Patong Beach is the largest of ten beaches on Phuket Island, a mountainous, forested island set on the west coast of Thailand and connected to the mainland by a causeway. The public beach is a mile long and is a five-minute walk from the K-Hotel.
The K-Hotel (K stands for my last name, Karasek) was opened in 1985 with 26 rooms and was extended to 44 rooms the following year. The facility has the intimacy of a small hotel with the size necessary for full service.
Each room has adjustable air conditioning, ceiling fan, room safe, hot water shower, mini bar, international direct-dialing phone, satellite TV and a balcony or veranda.
