Uttaradit Hotels
The Uttaradit province formerly known as Bang Pho Tha It, is located on the northern side of Thailand and the name means northern landing. Uttaradit is situated in the valley of the Nan River and around 45 km from here is the Sirikit Dam that has created a 250 sq km artificial lake. There was a time when a large area of the Uttaradit province was covered by teak forests with the largest and oldest teak tree being situated in the Ton Sak Yai Park. This teak tree is said to be 1500 years old and is 37m in height.
Uttaradit is located 491km from Bangkok and offers many beautiful attractions including the Mae Phun waterfall. This waterfall is situated in Ban Ton Klua, around 20km from the town and is created due to a barrier similar to that of a dam. It is completely natural surroundings and cascades down with a beauty that can only be beheld. There is the Wat Klang temple around 3 km from the Muang District in Tambon Ban Kae. This ancient temple has some rare wall murals from the early Rattanakosin Period and depicts the assembly of Jataka and other celestial beings from the Thai history. The Wat Tha hanon houses the principal statue of Buddha called Luang Pho Phet and is situated on the Nan River bank. You will find another similar temple at Wat Phra Thaen Sila At, which is situated 14km from the town of Wat Phra Yun. The most impressive feature is a platform created for sermon. This platform has been made from Laterite.
