Trang is 828km from Bangkok and is spread over an area of 4,941 sq km. It shares its borders with the Nakhon Si Thammarat Province in the north, the Indian Ocean and the Satun Province in the south, the Phatthalung Province in the east and the Krabi Province in the west. Trang is one of the most delightful of all coastal experiences in Thailand. It is vibrant with nature and its coastline stretches over 199km. Apart from the attraction of the sea, Trang offers river activities in the Trang River and the Maenam Palian River. In spite of all this, Trang is a less traveled and off beat destination.
Trang comprises of breathtaking islands with clear blue lagoons and white sandy beaches surrounded by the awe-inspiring limestone mountains. It has an archipelago of 46 islands on the Andaman Sea out of which 12 islands are located in Amphoe Kantang, 13 in Amphoe Palian and 21 situated in Amphoe Sikao.
What attract people to Trang are the numerous beaches, which are situated on the mainland and also on the 46 odd islands and each of these beaches will hold you in its spell. There are some light adventure activities offered in Trang like cruising on the coastal waters, visiting by boat the Emerald Cave, a camp out in the Mu Ko Petra National Park, which has its own share of beaches and diving sites. Some of the other major attractions include the wildlife sanctuaries of Khlong Lamchan Park and Namtok Khao Chong, which are thriving with bird life, insects, small wild animals and numerous caves, waterfalls, and nature trails.
