Surin Nan Hotels
Surin Nan shares the border with the Kampuchean boundary and is famous for their annual Elephant show that takes place around the 3rd week in November and during this time; this small town comes alive with visitors from almost all over the world. Surin Nan is situated 457 km from Bangkok. There is an Elephant Village in Surin Nan and they are kept as pet by many farmer. Elephants are highly respected in Thailand. The same elephants take part in the Elephant show in held in November. Just like the Elephant Villages, there is a Basketry Village too, which is situated in Ban Buthom. Some of the best ratan baskets in Thailand are crafted and made in this village.
Moving away from the Basketry Village, you can visit Prasat Sikhoraphum situated in Amphoe Sikhoraphum, which is almost 35 km from Surin. Prasat Sikhoraphum is composed of five pagodas and the main structure is 32m high. There are some beautiful and intricate designs engraved on the Pagoda columns. There is yet another village called the Silverware Village, and as the name suggests, it is popular for creating and designing anything in silver from ornaments like necklaces, rings, and bracelets, to watches and earrings.
There are two hotels in Surin Nan - the City Park Hotel, a three star hotel and the more popular one, and the Dhevaraj Hotel. The City Park Hotel is just about 15-20 minutes from the Airport and is equipped with all modern amenities. The Dhevaraj Hotel is centered in the heart of the city and is close to many tourist attractions.
