Lopburi Hotels
Lopburi or Lop Buri is situated at a distance of 153 km from Bangkok and its earlier name was Lawo. Lop Buri is one of the ancient Khmer towns with history dating back to the 10th and 13th century. The town is dotted with architectural ruins from the Khmer era. According to history, King Narai in the Ayutthaya period established Lop Buri with the help of architects from France as the 2nd capital. The predominant architecture reflected on the walls of the town are in both Western and Thai styles.
There are many places to visit in Lop Buri and one of them is the Statue of King Narai the Great. The statue has been placed at the entrance of the town and is a tribute to the great king who built some of the important buildings in the town including the magnificent Phra Narai Ratchaniwet Palace.
Another great place to visit is the Wat Khao Wongkot that is popular for its bat population. This is a temple situated at the base of the Sanam Daeng Mountain, with a huge bat cave. If you are lucky enough then you will get to see the bats fly out in hundreds or thousands after 6pm to find food. There’s another famous temple called the Wat Yang Na Rangsi and it is situated on the banks of the Lop Buri River. There are many more temples but you can move forward from here to the Nam Tok Wang Kan Luang, which is a 10-tiered waterfall situated 12 km from the Lam Narai Market.
