Krabi Hotels
Krabi is located in South Thailand. Predominantly mountainous, the landscape of Krabi is punctuated by hills and valleys. Covering almost 130 islands in the Andaman Sea, Krabi has a fertile soil and an agrarian economy.
Forests consist of mangroves and Cassia trees while plantations include rubber trees, mangoes, coconuts, palm, and, coffee. The Krabi River flows through the city and ends its rendezvous by falling into the Andaman Sea at the Tambon Pak Nam. Some other streams and brooks include the Khlong Pakasai, the Khlong Krabi Yai and the Khlong Krabi Noi. They cascade down through the rugged slopes of the highest mountain ranges, the Khao Phanom Bencha.
Krabi may not boast of any spectacular beach or resort. But Krabi is perhaps the oldest continuous settlement in Thailand. Archaeologists have determined, after dating the various artefacts such as pottery, skeletal remains, beads, stone tools etc, found in the many cliffs and caves of the region, that Krabi was home to humans from as far back as 25,000 - 35,000 B.C. Back then it was probably called ‘Ban Thai Samor’. And in around 1200 A.D. Krabi was part of the Ligor Kingdom who ruled city then called Kra Peninsula, but better known as Nakhon Si Thammarat today.
Since Krabi is a mainland, the weather is tropical with just two dominant seasons –summer from January to April and the monsoon from May to December. The temperatures range from 16.9 to 37.3o Celsius. A good time to visit Krabi is during summers.
