Koh Yao Hotels
The twins Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yaho Yahi are two large islands situated in the middle of Phang Nga Bay. These islands are at an equal distance from both Krabi mainland and the beach resort of Phuket. Despite a frenzy of activity and development, especially in Koh Yao, these twins are an ideal escape destination from the overcrowded beaches of Phuket and other intensely popular tourist destinations in Thailand.
Koh Yao’s romance with the international tourist began when in 2002; it received the World Legacy Award for Destination Stewardship from Conservation International and also from National Geographic Traveller Magazine for the eco-friendly home stay programs offers by the locals.
Koh Yao’s locals are proud of their traditions and cultures and follow a strict code of conduct. All tourists who travel to Koh Yao should respect the local culture. They should dress up modestly, and should not drink alcohol on the beaches or outside the resorts and restaurants.
Koh Yao is usually frequented by travellers who are on a South Thailand exploration trip and on their way back from Krabi to Phuket or vice-versa. Though accommodation is available in the form of bungalows and resorts, besides the award winning homestay program, Koh Yao also has a swanky new luxury resort. There are not many modern facilities for foreigners expect for some local shops and a newly opened convenience store.
The island offers many water sports and activities such as snorkelling, kayaking, swimming, boat rides besides hiking, and trips to rubber plantations.
