Koh Tao Hotels
Koh Tao is a diminutive tropical island offering unbelievable snorkelling and scuba diving opportunities, a rich bio-diverse jungle in the very heart of the island, and plenty of golden brown serene, palm trees fringed beaches that are greedily lapped up by the glittering azure waters of the Gulf. It is also one of the best kept secrets of this naturally endowed country!
Koh Tao lies just off the coast of Thailand in the south and in close proximity to the more popular and crowded Koh Samui Island. A popular choice with 20-30 year old backpackers, Koh Tao is a wonderful place to visit for relaxation, getting a perfect tan, indulge in great snorkelling, get pampered with spa treatments and Thai massages and enjoy chilled beer under the star filled nights. Wonderful for a family holiday, Koh Tao is also becoming popular with newly weds who wish for an idyllic romantic honeymoon destination.
Named by the people who discovered it, Koh Tao is shaped like a turtle and incidentally is a vital breeding ground for the Green and Hawksbill turtle species. However, rapid commercialisation has taken its toll on the health of these gentle giants and these mammals are being reintroduced in an attempt to restore the ecosystem of the island.
Besides scuba diving and snorkelling, the island has many beaches and topping the most popular list is the Sairee beach which lies on island’s west coast. Its 1.7 kilometres stretch of talcum powder sand beach is punctuated only by some large boulders. The beach is scattered with many resorts.
