Khon Kaen Hotels
Khon Kaen is a city with immense beauty and striking contrasts. Some of the more popular destinations for travellers in Thailand such as Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, and Chiang Mai are now tremendously populated and overly commercialized. But Khon Kaen is unique due to its old customs and traditions, local people, authentic country life, green carpets of rice paddy fields, water buffaloes, and a community that is striving hard to hold onto its age-old values and customs in a world that is changing at a rapid pace.
The original Thailand outside of these much hyped tourist destinations can be experienced in complete splendour here at Khon Kaen. Located in northeast of Thailand, a region usually overlooked by tourists, Khon Kaen, makes a good base for those interested in taking excursions into Laos or a visit to the neighbouring Cambodia as it is well connected by bus, air, train and road.
Khon Kaen is also the fourth biggest city in Thailand. It is also a major silk production centre and hosts the annual silk fair in December each year. Tourists can buy good silk at affordable prices from any of the numerous shops selling it in Khon Kaen.
But if silk production doesn’t sound exciting then head to the southeast and pay a visit to the one of the few ancient Khmer temples left in Thailand. Prasat Peuay Noi was built in the 12th century and contains ornately craved delicate stonework that is extremely captivating and unique.
