Khao Lak (Phang Nga) Hotels
When the Asian Tsunami hit the shores of Thailand, many people were killed. Popular beach resorts such as Khao Lak, which were known for their beautiful beaches, were destroyed by Tsunami. However, now after more than four years Khao Lak is slowly experiencing resurgence and the number of tourists visiting this resort town is on the rise.
Prior to the natural catastrophe, Khao Lak was a rapidly developing beach resort - less commercialized, and more popular for scuba diving and generally frequented by families. Now, after extensive repair work, Khao Lak has once again opened its doors to the travellers and is much better organized and cleaner than before.
Located at a distance of 100 kilometres from Phuket in the north, lying in the Takua Pa district, Khao Lak is perhaps more popular for live aboard scuba diving trips than its beautiful coastline!
The coastline of Khao Lak is made of brown sand beaches flanked by tropical forests and tall palm trees that gently sway in the cool sea breeze. A number of thick rubber plantations decorate the hill slopes far away and beyond the sandy shores. The town has many shops and hotels and other accommodation options arranged in a ribbon-shape along the beach and the roads.
Since the tsunami had wiped out much of the vegetation, this resort town is now in the process of reconstruction of its landscape and restoring much of the remaining coastal vegetation.
Khao Lak – A defiant resort town with a resilient soul!
