Tak (Mae Sot) Hotels
Tak is a mountainous region situated in the Northern Province and covers an area of 6,406sq km. It can be reached from Bangkok and is situated 426 km away. Tak is located right on the Ping river basin and is separated from Myanmar by the Moei River.
In the heart of the city lies the Mani Banphot Swamp, which is a scenic area having a temple with the deity of Buddha dating back to the 11th century. Another place of visit is Khao Tham, a 71 meter high rocky hill close to the Phahonyothin Highway.
The Khao Tham contains replica the footprint of Lord Buddha at its summit. It is an important place of worship.
One of the spectacular places to visit is the Bhumibol Dam. It is the biggest dam in Thailand built on the Mae Ping River and located in Amphoe Sam Ngao. There is a beautiful lake that forms and dominates the surrounding landscape. There are cruises available on the Mae Ping Lake that start from the Bhumibol Dam and take visitors up to the Chiang Mai's Doi Tao covering 140km.
You can also visit the popular Lan Sang National Park near the Tak-Mae Sot Highway. It is 17km from the Tak city and can be accessed through a 3km arterial road within the park. It is popular for the scenery and the gorgeous Pha Phung and Lan Sang waterfalls. There is another national park called the Taksin Maharat National Park spread over 37,250 acres and is full of beautiful spots next to fresh water streams and waterfalls.
